In most states in the US it is illegal for a pet store or hobby breeder to sell puppies less than 8 weeks old. FL is one of those states thank goodness! A puppy who is only 7 weeks old doesn't have a mature immune system and is very prone to getting ill. It is never a good idea to pass around a small puppy amongst folks - never! It is very stressful for the puppy and it's the parents who need to be educated You wouldn't believe how many yorkie dogs we get into rescue because the owners purchased on an "impulse", and did no research about what to expect, etc. That's what makes ME mad! Folks seeing the celebs walking around with their supposed "teacup" doggies - basically "pocket pets" and folks run to the local pet store to purchase one just like them, sometimes to fulfill their own need of self worth, never giving a thought as to what to expect with the breed. Makes me crazy!
