Cookie was almost 100% potty trained at 9 months and we started letting her be confined to the kitchen during the day instead of the crate. Slowly she started having more and more accidents. Thanks to someone on YT, they suggested re-training her again and starting over. So we made her stay in her crate during the day and when we were gone
but it worked! It's been 2 weeks and she's only had one accident. The punishing bit did not do a thing for Cookie. Hope this helps.
