One thing that we read with regard to training of all types was to keep the dog on a leash next to you. That way you always have control. It isn't easy, but you never have the dog out of your sight. Ours was on a leash for nearly a year, but we had less problems when we started the leash training. I believe that it goes back to the same issue of giving them too much space. Our vet explained that to them the house is like a football field!
