I don't think it's a big deal that the vet examined him in another room. But I do think you are making too much out of the news. Puppies have a lot of things that just naturally work themselves out. Yorkies do have an issue with knees, but if you are careful and don't put them in high places, it's probably not going to bother anything. Give him some time. Feed a quality diet and wait to see.
I met someone recently that asked why my yorkie's teeth were so good. She said most yorkies lose all their teeth. I think a lot of misconceptions are out there. and also, tracheal problems are more associated with older yorkies, so just because he doesn't have it now, does not mean he won't and it is also directly related to obesity. We all have to remember that it takes a small amount to feed a 4-7 lb baby!
