Gosh, it has been a loooonnnngggg time since I've had to deal with mucus poop. I need advice?
Roxy was on Clavamox for a mild staph infection, starting it on 5/19. Friday 5/25 her poop was really soft, mushy diarrhea and had mucus (which was day 8 of Clavamox). I continued her normal diet and the rest of the Clavamox until day 10. I included Dannon Activa and extra Super 8 High Potent Probiotics as well to her diet.
She is currently eating a Raw Food Diet:

I also feed her dried cranberries, dried blue berries, virgin coconut oil, and some dog treats.
Anyway, she has now had the mucus and soft diarrhea poop for 6 days. As a matter of fact, Sunday 5/27, either Roxy or TJ had MAD DIARRHEA in our bed during the middle of the night. I don't know for sure who it was (no evidence), but with the way Roxy's poop is, I'd bet it was her.
I just called the Vet's office and the Tech said it is probably the Clavamox and that I should have stopped it when I first saw the mucus, but I had no idea I should have stopped it
. She said to feed her a bland diet and that she probably needs a shot of something, but I don't know what kind of shot.
Here's the thing. They have no appointments today and the latest they have tomorrow is 4:15 pm. My house is an hour away from my job, then the Vet is another 15 mins. So, I'd have to leave work by 3 pm. Plus, I am taking off on Friday. I have a 7 am flight to FL for the weekend. Roxy and TJ are staying home with Daddy.
I don't know what to do. Everything about Roxy is fine, except the mucus diarrhea poop. I am going to stop and get brown rice and ground meat to boil when I get home tonight. But I only have tonight and tomorrow for me to see myself if her poop gets better. (and to top it off, Roxy and TJ are poop eaters, I just pray they don't eat this super gross poop). I guess I will have my hubby continue to feed them both the rice and boiled meat the whole time while I'm gone.
Ok, so let me get to my needing advice...
Do you think she really needs this shot??? Would it be bad to feed the bland diet and give her some pepto and if she's not better by Monday, to bring her to the Vet?
THIS SUCKS!!! I wish I wasn't going away this weekend
