Default Demodex or Mange

I adopted Charlie (10 yo) in April and he has had demodex (mange) for years and was never completely treated. Ivermectin liquid is what finally turned him around. He was on it for almost five months. However, I had a thyroid panel done on him, and his T-4 level which should have been between 2-4 was at 0. So between the Demodex and T-4, he couldn't recover his coat.

Today, he is on thyroid 2xday, off the invermectin and doing wonderful. He did have skin scraping and will have to follow up with scrapings for the rest of his life. Any big stress could reactive the mite. The T-4 was also tested at 4 weeks, and he had risen to 2.8 .

I would address both of these conditions with your vet. Good luck.
