I was wondering too... I asked my breeder if he could sell me a puppy without a docked tail and he said no!
It seems kind of cruel and pointless to me, especially since it is cosmetic unlike spaying and neutering. I didn't want a show dog, I just wanted a companion, but the breeder insisted.
