The link above is very informative. Unfortunately, I know the ravages of smoking first hand. I suffered with my dad, who first had to have his larynx removed but unfortunately it was too late. He spent the last years of his life unable to communicate & in excruciating pain due to a nicotine addiction he began in WWII. He had to have his lungs suctioned out several times a day through a hole in his throat to attempt to let his scarred lungs provide enough air for each painful breath. It is agony watching someone you love be cut up a little at a time due to a cancer his doctor told him he had never seen in non-smokers.
As my mother was dead & I was the only child, I was the one who sat by his bed & watched him suffer & I was the one who had to sign the Do Not Resuscitate order when neither of us could bear his agony any longer.
In his very last days, when he could no longer communicate in any way & the doctors told me he was beyond pain, the tears still rolled out of his closed eyes.
I don't mean to sound dramatic but this is something you should never put your loved ones through. Your health isn't just about you, its about those who are left behind as well. |

I had tears in my eyes by the time I got to the end of your post... what an awful time that must of been for you! I couldn't agree more with your last statement... so true...
Thanks to everyone for the support, I will keep you all updated! I'm hoping tomorrow will be as good as today was!
