I bought an Energizer e2 charger with four batteries at Wal-Mart ($19) and it has performed admirably. I now have a second set that I can charge and have ready to change out.
How old is your Canon? The newer models (past year or 2) have Digic II and Digic III somethng that supposedly bolsters battery life. I've only had my camera a little over 2 weeks, taken hundreds of shots and played with it off and on and I just changed the batteries for the first time Wednesday ...
