I don't mean to stir up trouble here, but I just have to ask this. Am I the only one who wonders why we think "screaming at our dogs" is wrong while thinking that scaring them by banging a pot or shaking a penny can - or squirting them with water - is "discipline done correctly?"
Lest you think I am trying to be "holier than thou", I'm not. I have also resorted at times to a penny can. Before I used clicker training (& tried to always look for positive solutions first), I also used the squirt bottle and - I'm ashamed to admit - even harsher methods with my big dogs.
I am NOT condemning anyone. I just find the logic here interesting. Am I the only one?
