Sure they have a right to their opinions but why on earth do we think their opinions are worth any more than the unnamed guy you pass on the street?
Another problem is that the "NEWS" media are making editorial statements instead of reporting unbiased news. It is actually VERY difficult to sift through all the slants to find the real story. It takes a LOT of reading and watching boring C-span to know even half of the real story. Guarranted that you don't know it if you are basing your views on CNN or the View!
No one will agree with all that happens in any administration. President Bush himself, probably has had to make decisions that were not exactly what he would have wanted. When world politics is so complicated, no one can do exactly what they want all the time. He is definately not my favorite president of all time (not my least favorite either, by a long shot)-- but -- I will always remain respectful. When we started showing such open contempt and disrespect for our nation's leaders, we lost a LOT of respect as a nation. There is such a thing as positional respect whether you agree with a person completely, a little, or not at all. Respect does not equal abject agreement. But, just as showing respect for one's parents or boss goes a long way to define a person's own self-respect and self-worth -- so does showing respect for the top governmental position in one's country. The way we treat the "most powerful position in the world" is the VERY reason we have so few of the genius-caliber, natural born leaders vying for the job. JMHO! |
Well said--- I want my fave entertainers to do just that--Entertain me.
If they want to help save the world--just go about doing it, not squaking about it.
Anyone watch BBC news? TV or internet....It's about the only thing I can stomach.
The US world news is sort of a joke-------there is so much more going on around the world--(the USA is not the world) that we don't hear about on US stations.
I am not dogging the US.
I do feel as though we are fed only what they'd like to spin to us to keep us scared or happy depending.
We hear more reporting on the Britneys, Annas and Paris' than we do actual news.
I only wish I had a good solution to the madness.
