in the meanwhile, the following may help with the itching:
Aveeno oatmeal baths
Benedryl (do a search here or check with your vet for dosage amounts, Ginger weighs 13 lbs and gets a whole children's benedryl 2x/day)
Lots of vacuuming
Launder bedding in hypoallergenic detergent
