Sukoshi has her own "bedroom" for duing the day at work (our 3/4 bathroom that we don't use and converted into her room, complete with a couch and plenty of toys), so she has access to water and her potty pad all day while we're at work (we didn't think she could hold it all day), and we use a baby gate to keep her in (but that way she doesn't feel completely closed off from the rest of the house since she can still see out)...BUT...if you aren't able to do something like that for your baby during the day, I know we don't have water in Sukoshi's crate where she sleeps at night, and she's never had a problem. I'd presume your little one will just sleep all day while you're gone, just like Sukoshi does during the night, and as long as she's sleeping, I don't know why it would hurt her to be without water as long as you make it available to her as soon as you get home and all evening, but if she's awake playing, then that may be a different story.
