Very nice sturdy basket! Another option besides the top grate is to put a harness on them upside down, so the D ring in on the tummy and then clip them in with a short tether to the bottom of the basket. That way they don't have to be caged in. One thiing that I have used that worked well is to get a small choke chain collar (not as a collar) and thread it through the bottom of the basket then take the two ends with a small clip (the kind that was originally for rock climbing, can't remember that it is called) and attach it to the D ring and through the two ends of the choke chain. It is about the right length and they can't chew through it.

Get them used to riding in baskets while they are young and they won't get too freaked out at first.
