i say train your dog the way that best fits you and your lifestyle and your baby seeing as no dog is the same. i didn't use a gate or a crate or anything at all to train my coco, he actually had full range of my home since day 1 and he always goes outside. my hubby trained him to ring the bell when he needs to go. i found that this worked best for me and coco. but like i said just train your baby with what's best for you and her and your lifestyle.
