Swimming lesson

I was wondering how Jack was going to take to water, so yesterday I walked him down to the lake behind my friend's house. The water was very calm, clear and warm, and I put him in it up to his knees. He backed off and just looked puzzled. Then a boat went bye and so the water started lapping at the shore. He went balistic, growling and snapping at the little waves. Then all of a sudden I think he must have seen a fish, because he took two leaps into the water and before I knew it he was out of his depth swimming like mad. Luckily I had on his harness and leash. It was really a funny sight, and now I know that he can swim. I have a life jacket for when we go out on the boat, but I wanted to see what he would do by the shore.
After he went to the waters edge with no problem, so one more lesson under his belt. He just turned 8 months old and is the light of my life.
