I use a pet carrier from Vera Bradley. It is lined with a cleanable surface, there is plenty of room for Shelby (or Seymour) and comes in many different colors. My hubby usually uses a black Sherpa Bag when we have both dogs ( he thinks it is more of a "guy" bag).
