Hootie, Hobbs and Lamar are all three VERY VERY social. I have taken extra steps to make sure they are all three properly socialized dogs....i.e. leave them overnight or over the weekend at my sister's house and parents house, let my mother-in-law take H&H to work with her for the day, let them go play at a friends house without me there, and I take Lamar to daycare 3 times a week and to obedience classes once a week. To date, I have never seen any of them be put in a situation where they were not completely comfortable...they love people of all shapes, sizes, and colors, and are never nervous in strange places. I see so many dogs who are nervous and shy and reserved and it just breaks my heart. When I got my dogs I knew I wanted all 3 of them to be confident and comfortable around strange people and in strange surroundings. If that means that they would get over me quickly if something happened to me, so be it. I know they love me to death, but I would rather them get over my quickly than live a life of misery.
For the poll, I put they would get over me in a year, but to be honest, as long as they had a good owner, they would probably be happy anywhere. |
