The only thing that will get those matts out is a slicker brush. Don't scrape the skin. It get's those matts out really great and is what all groomers use. Work on a little area at a time till they are all out, then shampoo and use a really good conditioner so they don't matt up again. Be sure to use the slicker to brush every day, then comb.
