OK, Here is where I get egged, I guess.

When I first came to YT it seemed to be full of yorkie savvy people who offered a lot of help & advice. I miss those, where did they go? Anybody remember Lacy's Mom? She knew everything about our doggies. I had just about as much faith in her posts as I do my vet. There were other helpful breeders, groomers, & show people who posted a lot, (thanks dray for going to considerable trouble to teach us how to make bows rather than trying to sell them to us) and I learned a lot from them. Now, sometimes, it's like an infomercial on tv, everybody wants to sell you something or even asks (or strongly hints for donations).

I don't dress my dogs and don't feel obligated to support those who do. I'm sure I'm a cynic but I would hope that if someone really needs help, they can find someone they actually know to help them & not be dependent on an online forum. I've seen it happen that the same person who needs help one week is posting about buying doggy apparel the next week.

Dog clothes are cute but they are certainly not a necessity. Just providing food, immunizations, grooming & medical care for our little divas is an expensive proposition and a luxury. If you are truly in need, you just can't afford it.

I don't mean to be ugly but the original post did sort of feel like a guilt trip to me. If the product you are selling & the service you are giving makes people happy, then great. If someone else knows where to get it cheaper & wants to share that - great, that's free enterprise.

I donated to YT for the new server because I appreciate the medical, grooming & training advice I have gotten on this site. I make it a general rule not to give to anonymous requests on the internet. I'm sure there are some genuine cases of need but the local church or community would be much better able to know if there is a real need than us just going by what someone says.

Just for the record, the best dog treats I ever got were from the lady who scammed a bunch of YTers & disappeared off the site. She treated me fine- if I had not read all the posts from those who were "had", I would have thought she was a-ok to do business with.

I'm sorry I'm beginning to ramble, just don't think it is fair for anyone to try to make anyone feel guilty for not buying from them if they can get a better deal somewhere else or donating to causes you really know nothing about.
