Ticks are very disgusting, but most ticks do not carry lime disease. The main thing to look for is if the bite looks odd -- like a bullseye -- white in center with a red circle. Don't worry, unfortunately where I live even though we spray the yard and do Frontline Plus -- one or two ticks a year get past all defenses. They are yucky, but I use Benadryl cream on any bites on me or my family. If the bite is where the pup can't lick I use a very small amount of the cream; if it is where they can reach -- I just clean it up and examine it to make sure it doesn't have the bullseye look.
