Some will have open fontanels that don't close. While it isn't desirable, it isn't terrible either. It just creates an add'l vulnerability that other dogs don't have.
I believe many, many chihuahuas have open fontanels their whole life - I think I read it's almost considered normal for them, but again, not desirable.
