Do you have a friend or neighbor you really really trust who can drop in on him and play with him and stuff? If not, I would search for a good kennel or pupsitter to leave him with. Kennels sound and seem harsh, but good vets hire kennel keepers who take the dog out and play with them for a bit, take them to an enclosed yard to get fresh air once a day, etc. They also get fed properly and some places will even groom your yorkie for an additional fee. If it came down to it, I would not like kenneling Luca Dean, but if I had some emergency or something like that, I would take him to my vet before I left him with friends or family. That way I know he would be in a safe environment. You can also consider purchasing a run for your dog -- this gives them more room than a cage and you can take his plastic kennel and his toys and a few shirts that smell like you and he won't be happy, but he'll be well taken care of. |
