It's pretty simple, the controls aren't at all confusing. There's a menu button and a view finder to browse through the pictures. I have the USB cord, but will have to search around for the book (I'm sure I have it though). It does not come w/a memory stuck so you may want to buy one if you're going to be out taking a lot of pictures, or else you can only take 10-20 at a time w/o uploading them to the computer.
