I strongly agree with what has been said here. If you do not correct this problem the day that you are regreting will come and that will indeed be a very tragic thing. Since you can't rely on the children to not let the dog out you have got to train the dog or find another solution. I would train the stay or wait command and work on it every single day even for 5min at a crack several times a day. You can find training instructions online. The other thought would be to put something at the door at ground level that the kids could step over to get outside, but would take more for your dog to get over (IE: a short baby gate, a piece of fabric, a board, something), this of course is just a bandaide and training would be better. Either way, don't let this one slip..take action to correct it now so nothing happens to your baby.
