I remember when I rescued a Shih-tzu YEARS ago, I paid the full price for it and the contract from the person said that I had 24 hours to have the animal vet checked...so I did that and found tons of problems (I mean, I got to the vet about an hour after I got the dog). I took the dog back and of course, she didn't want it because I am sure she knew his health problems, so, I made an offer w/ her...I got half the money back + the vet bill cost and I got to keep the dog. Course, after over $5000 dollars and two years later, we had to put him to sleep...so, it was a no win situation for either of us.

Anyway, just see if you can have your own personal vet check out the dog before...especially if you are all in the same area....they can even take the dog to your vet and meet you there.....it doesn't hurt to ask.
