It can be very tough particularly if you detoured early on, to get them on track.
I'm almost embarrassed to say it was nearly FOUR years before Ozzie could have complete run of the house. Work schedules made it very hard during the first year to keep his training consistent, the second year had its own set of foibles to derail us and during his third year, I changed jobs completely. Lots of ups and downs for both of us.
But during his third year, my mother began working from home so she watched him and worked with him. By the end of that year, it was pretty smooth sailing.
I can tell you from experience that you have to be both dilgent and consistent. Sometimes, it's exasperating. But once you get them to a good point, you'll appreciate all the tough times all the more! |
