There was an article in our local paper a few years ago about a hawk taking off with a small dog. And another atricle where a cyote during their morning walk, and it took a small dog that was on those retractable leash and the lady couldn't hang on. My girls are always on a nylon leash and I keep my end looped around my wrist.
I know we are taking up the space and food source for these wild animals but I shiver when I think our pups are on their menu.
