We go for a short puppy cut. I normally let it grow out a bit starting September, then begin cutting short in March right before the rainy and warmer season starts.
I plan on showing Yorkies eventually, but the pups I have now are pet only, so it's a matter of comfort right now. Also I think they look just adorable with puppy cuts.
