New member with a picky eater Hi,
I'm a new member and this is my first post. I have a beautiful, overweight, female, 2 1/2 year old yorkie named Reagan. She is a large yorkie, and the vet says based on her build she should weigh 9 to 9 1/2 lbs. She currently weighs 11.8 lbs. She's always been a picky eater. As a puppy, I couldn't get her to eat so I mixed her Iams kibble (I know I shouldn't feed her this but I don't know what else to try) with a small piece of white meat chicken tenderloin. This is what she eats everyday. Along with a couple of Naturo "Lite" treats each day. I've tried a variety of dry kibble - eukanuba, science diet, etc. - and she won't touch them even when I mix a little chicken tenderloin with it. She doesn't eat a lot, maybe just 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of total food a day. Of course, my husband supplements her diet with a couple of small pieces of peeled apple every once in a while when he thinks I'm not looking. I would like her to eat something nutritious and possibly get her to lose a couple of pounds. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you. |
