I'm a nurse so I've seen my share of stitches. The pics are a bit blurry. The skin should not be "open" or "splitting away" from where it it supposed to meet. It should be a neat stitch if the incision is a straight line. Stitches should be compact, firm, tight but not straining, and NOT loose or "loopy". They should lay nice and flat/tight agains the skin and hold the line nicely.

If you see anything less than this, I would call that vet office and give them the riot act. Stitches aren't rocket science and if they cannot get stitches right, I would never go there again. In fact, if you paid using your credit card, I would let them know that you are going to object to all or some of the charges unless they provide enough of a refund for you to go elsewhere to get the stitches re-done.

Is he oozing or anything? A bad stitch can let in not only foreign bacteria, but it can also let in our ususal bacteria that lives on our skin (staph) - you don't want this. An infection would be terrible for this little honey. Is he on antibiotics?

Lastly, load him up w/ as much pain medication as appropriate for his size - pain should be managed, not felt severely - and if he's in a lot of pain then they are not managing his pain sufficiently at all. The more the pain is managed, the speedier recovery.

I'm so sorry for your baby. I've sent something via Villette and hope that it helps ease some of the strain.

Blessings for a speedy recovery.
Hugs,
Ann
well from what you wrote its what I see in the stitching. loopy threads every where long. some are bunched up with what looks like over laped skin. and I can se openings and gaps in the incision. There is no even or flatness to any of it. The pain meds they have me giving him 5ml once aday, they said thats for his weight. it dont seem to be enough, he dosent seem in any less pain after taking it. I am going to call and talk to the Dr about the incision and stitches and the pain meds.Thank you very much, I will update after I talk to him.
