The shots themselves were not horribly painful, penicillin shots hurt alot worse. The first round is given by body weight though and so you had to get several injections, and that puts you in shock almost. Also our son was just 3 at the time and didn't understand.
I don't know that mosquitos pass rabies, I've never heard of that before.
