Default New Puppy

Welcome to Yorkie Talk

Congratulations on your new baby. I can't give you any advice on crate training as I did not use one. I bought interlocking baby gates and made a small square for my little one. Her little area contained her bed, water, toys, food and pee pad. My little one did very well. She is now 4 and I work all day and she has the run of the house. I do leave a boot tray covered in newspapers in the kitchen just in case but most often they are unused when I get home.

The papers come in handy in the winter as on really cold days I do not take her outside as it is too cold for her so she uses her newspapers. I live in a split level and the stairs are too steep forher to go down so I just have her on a regular potty schedule and it works for us.

When I get another little one I am going to use the same system as it has worked very well for me. The only thing I did wrong was let her have the run of the house too soon, she was about 6 months old and she chewed the legs of my dining room chairs and some of the molding around the doors. But other than that she was a little angel.

I hope this info was helpful but it is not expert advice it is only my experience with my precious one.

Good luck,

Jay
