Pierce had that cough when my daughter got him, what they call kennel cough. There is not much you could do, as I was told by the Vet it will go away on it’s on. I really felt bad for him every time he coughs.

I'm in New York and every time we will go out in the cold it got worse. I went on vacation down to Puerto Rico last February. It must have been the warm Caribbean or hot weather that really helped him to get better. At the time he was 8 months and we spend 2 weeks on the beach. Pierce came back home without the cough.

So perhaps since you are in a warm climate, you should let him out in the sun for a couple of minutes a day to warm him up. It really works, for the AC in the room just be careful that he is not directly getting the cold air. The cold will make the cough worse.
