It's "normal" to some extent, but shouldn't be encouraged. You need to firmly tell him "no" when he's biting something. If he continues, say "no" again, and lightly tap him on his side or on his nose. He should stop. Continue to do this until he doesn't bite anymore. Consistency is key, if you only do it sometimes, he won't learn not to bite! Good luck.
