sawyer was the same way. I hated it when he backed away when I reached for him; then my trainer said when we lean over them to pick them up it is like having a 7 story building suddenly lean towards you, you would probably back up too.
Sawyer is much better now, i think it is a trust issue that just takes time; and just like some people are more happy cuddling, some yorkies are too
