My new puppy did exactly the same thing. He was worse, he would shake if anyone looked directly at him. If I walked towards him he ran under the bed. If I tried to hold him he would squirm until I put him down, I thought he would throw him out of my arms and break a leg. It upset me so much that I called a Dog Behavorist to come to my house and show what I can do to make Ricky trust me. And, believe me, one session and she gave me some tips on how to deal with him that really helped. Little by little he is getting so much better. Last week we reached another milestone, he actually came up to me and looked me in the eye and started barking so that I would pick him up and put him on the sofa with me. I was shocked !!
