Default possessiveness/aggression over toys.

Paddington is doing really great now that his leg is all healed up. However, we are noticing that he is very possessive of his toys, Especially rawhides or chew toys. With humans he is reluctant to give up his toys when I say "drop it" unless I have a treat, but he is not aggressive and with patients I can get him to let go. With other dogs however, it is a totally different story. He starts snapping and making these awful growling sounds that sound like a really angry daffy duck lol. He seems to be doing a little better now that he spent some time with his cousin (my MIL's dog hehe) and I corrected him if he showed that behavior. But I was just wondering if anyone had any better training techniques for this problem than just saying a firm no, and separating him from the other dog (no picking him up though b/c that just makes the problem worse). Today he was being really good at the dog park even though there were toys around but when my fiance tried to take this really disgusting muddy ball away from him he started up again and was barking at all the dogs thinking they took his ball lol.

I've been so intent on training him since day one and taught him to fetch for me but somehow my baby has still turned into a spoiled brat! Its very discouraging. Any help is appreciated. Sorry I rambled on so long!
