I used to work @ a tanning salon/hair salon for several years and now go tanning once a week. Be sure to buy your tanning lotion online if you decide to buy some because it is A LOT cheaper online than in the salon.

Brown Envy is a GREAT starting lotion to build a base tan, I swear by it and it smells good too
I have been using the
Fiesta Sun lotions and I really like them, right now I am using
Banaberry Tini by Fiesta Sun 
It smells just like bananas & berries
Shop around though once you find a lotion you want to get the cheapest price. There is also a great tanning forum,
