Too overprotective? I went to a park over the weekend with my daughter and hubby, and we were walking Jake but any time another dog was around, I picked him up and carried him. One reason I did that is because Jake is so small that I worry if another dog might hurt him, even unintentionally. The main reason is because I have no idea if other people's dogs are up to date on shots, etc. I also don't like strangers to touch him, although I did let a little girl pet him because she was amazed at how small he was and that he had a shirt on lol. Hubby thinks I'm a little too overprotective because he says Jake needs the socialization. I agree that he does, but I worry anyway. Am I being overprotective?
Jake does get some socialization with my daughter's dogs. She has two labs who are so gentle and very sweet. They are very protective of my grandchildren, and the male is very protective of Jake also. It's cute because he just follows Jake around in the yard, and if the other dog comes over, he growls at her to back off lol. Jake loves playing with them, and we supervise them closely. |
