I am always on the quest to feed Roxy and TJ the best possible. When I got them from the breeder they were being feed Eukanuba, with a tiny bit of cooked chicken, and some honey drizzled on top. This was 2 years ago and it didn't last long. I switched to many many different high quality kibble. I had some issues with TJ (IBD) and I had to give him meds and needed to use a wet dog food too! Then ontop of it all, they became very picky. I then started to cook for them: 90% boilf groun beef, boiled lamb, brown rice, spianch, green beans, carrots, lentils, etc...They really seemed to enjoy this food. But I always came back to the same problem - POOP EATING
There is no need to suggest to me what I can give them to stop eatting poop, b/c believe me, for 2 years I have been trying everything under the sun and while some things work for others, my 2 are in such a 'habit' that it doesn't matter what I do to make the poop taste worst, they will still go for it. Until, I started to feed a Raw Food Diet.
They have been eating Nature's Variety Raw Frozen since March 2007.
They like the rabbit, beef, lamb and vension (don't care for chicken or turkey). They like to eat it frozen, so I take out a mediallion and let it sit on the granite countertop for 5 mins, so that the one side defrosts just enough for me to be able to cut it up into bit size pieces. I cut it up into about 12 little pieces and they gobble it right up! I also feed them steamed string beans (just b/c they absolutly love them), 1/2 sardine a day (with some more fish oil, a bug off garlic tab and a gluoclosime tab). One day a week they get an omlete (one whole organic cage free brown egg with the extra omega 3, spinach, green beans, 1/4 tps. of the egg shells)
Their Poops are really really small, and non appealing to them. They haven't completely stopped, they still seem to taste the poop, but then leave it alone. And after a few mins. of the poop sitting there, it turns to white and it flakey. So, I think that I am finally combating the poop eating.
Here's my concerns though...With all the recalls going on, I just don't trust any dog food company and I am at such a conflict, b/c as much as I would love to feed real raw human food, I just can't. I am too paranoid about the bones. Roxy and TJ are so small and Roxy has CT and I just don't have the time to sit and either hold the bone for them to eat nor do I have the time to give them a really good cleaning after their hair has been all over raw meat. And mine like it frozen.
Here's another company that I might be interested in:

Has anyone ever heard of it?
Does anyone make their own frozen ground up patties? I might be interested in learning how to make my own, this way I can use human food and make little frozen patties.
Sorry for the long post, I am just in such a conflciting state. I want to keep with the raw way, but I have to find a way that works for us
