My BIL has chosen not to have his Great Dane neutered specifically for this reason (the cosmetic appearance). I think it's ridiculous but you gotta admit that on a Great Dane, it's very obvious whether that boy still "has his" or not. I'll have to pass this info on to him to see if it would be something he'd consider. I doubt he would have it done at this point because the dog is "elderly" now but he might consider it in the future.
