Yes, you should find a breeder locally. You should go see where they live(the pups), see the parents if at all possible and have a nice looong chat with the breeders. If you can't see the parents then you probably don't want to buy there. But do spend time with the pups. Don't choose one too shy or one to rambunctious. A shy pup will hide and a rambunctious one will be head strong. If you want either of these types be prepared to have your work cut out for you. I know lots of people buy their pups before they are even born or a few days old. I myself prefer to wait until they are at least 5 weeks old before deciding to get one. In fact I prefer to wait until they are 8 weeks old. Less chance of them dying and more training by mom, dad and siblings.
