Hugs for everyone Poor you!! I have kids and a yorkie/poodle cross so I know how you must feel. No one is the winner in a situation like this. My doggy sometimes growls at the kids and I tell them to respect that and back off. But if I'm in the same room/area at the time, I will also growl at Toby to let him know that it's not on! Let your daughter be the ONLY one to feed your yorkie for a few weeks, he'll soon respect the hand that feeds him. Toby doesn't like being picked up and can growl then, so I trained him with treats when he let my 8 year-old pick him up and he's much better at it now. Lots of positive reinforcement for all involved, your daughter needs to know that she didn't do anything wrong.
"yorkies don't like children" - not always true. A friend has 2 yorkies and the little tiny girl absolutely adores my children - always up for pats and cuddles. |
