Puppies or kittens dropped would most necessarily have to be given a bath. But, bathing new born puppies in breeders home too early is, not necessarily the best thing for them, you want to begin the handling process, but don't want cause them or their mother any undue stress by keeping them away from mom too long. Mom's usually keep them pretty clean anyway, since they do all the diapering and constant cleaning.
