Hello And Welcome To Yt....
I Think This Is One Of The Hardest Stages To Go Through With A Puppy. I Understand What You Are Feeling - My Harvey Is 13 Months Old And When We Got Him He Was 8 Weeks Old And Only 1.4 Lb, We Felt So Sorry For Him Being Away From His Familiar Things And His Mummy.
My Daughter Slept With Him For The First Few Nights As He Cried Something Awful When We Put Him In His Crate, Which Was Downstairs In The Kitchen.
On The Advice Of The Vet (which I Knew Myself Deep Down - But Couldnt Do As I Felt Sorry For Him), He Told Us To Start As We Meant To Go On. And He Would Get Used To His Crate, And That We Were Not Doing Him Any Favors By Letting Him Sleep With My Daughter.
So We Bedded Him Down In His Crate In The Kitchen And Went To Bed - He Did Cry For About 45 Min, But Eventually Went To Sleep, Each Night Then He Cried A Little Less - It Does Work, They Are Just Objecting To Being Apart From You. Your Just Have To Be Firm.. I Know It Is Hard To Do......
Harvey Only Goes In His Crate If We Are All Out Or At Bedtime, The Rest Of The Time He Has Always Had The Run Of The House. I Used Wee Pads And Also Took Him Out Every 2-3 Hours, Now He Is Completely Housetrained And We Dont Have Wee Pads Down Anymore.
Luckily He Always Has Someone With Him - My Husband During Day And Me At Nightime. Even Though He Goes In The Crate - It Is With Reluctance He Doesnt Love It, But Knows It Is Where He Sleeps. I Thinks It Is Important To Have Some Time Away From Him At Night - He Is Such A Little Cling On During The Day And Though We Love Him So Much, We Need Our Space Too.
Good Luck - You Will Find Your Own Way, I Just Wanted To Let You Know How We Did Things.
