I don't think you'll get a concensus here. Some people will say you're smart and some people will say you're nuts. It depends on who you believe.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals recently encouraged people to discuss the issue with their vets before beginning a home-cooked program. I guess there has been a spike in inquiries about home-cooked since the recent pet-food recalls. The ASPCA still recommends a high-quality commercial kibble.
I think the main point is to do some research first, which I guess is exactly what you're doing! Good luck.
