That is something I noticed with my last Yorkie/Silky Cooper. If it was a big dog he wanted to kick his a@@ If it was a small to medium dog he was rather indifferent, If it was another Yorkie he's flip out! He was in love! He definitely knew the difference! Keifer hasn't been around any other Yorkies yet (since his littermates) so I don't know. But I think they know and some of them are a bit of a snob!!
