They ususally wait on yorkies until they are older to chip unless they are having surgery because the chip is large for them because of their size and it is painful due to the large gauge needle used. I would definitely recommend the microchip and the tatoo both if possible just to be safe.
I think they are attempting to standardize the chips s that any scanner will work on them and the registry is uniform. |
