I think it is your personal preference, however when they are new its best to crate them for potty training purposes. Izzy slept with me for a while but I put him back in the crate because he moves around too much. I heard that once they sleep with you it's hard to go back to the crate but, I actually did not have a problem. The night I put him back he looked at me funny then curled up and went to sleep! LOL
